Principles of Visual Effects: Week 5/6
First test edit for the project
Quick edit to check the flow of the film and see what needs to be reshoot.
Slapcomp
Looking at the slapcomp, I can see that I need to reshoot the first green screen scene. This is because the flow between 00:40-00:41 doesn’t flow smoothly. The camera was suppose to zoom out from the moon meaning that at 00:41, the camera view should be closer to the hand, zooming out from the gap between the fingers.
In addition, the scene is very jumpy and will be difficult to track, at one point the camera also cuts into the head of the actor. Therefore, it is certain that scene 1 with the green screen needs to be reshoot. This problem could possibly be solved with the use of a gimbal stabilizer.
Aside from the green screen shots, the shots I shoot at home needs to be reshoot as well. When reshooting this time, I would like to change the lighting to a dimmer and warmer light for the scene on the left. Lastly, as seen in the picture on the right, I want to try to reduce the amount of reflection as much as possible, before trying to edit it in nuke.
Review on Shooting day
On the shooting day, even though I was not able to be at the campus and working the filming with the green screen myself, I enjoyed the experience. It was fun trying to direct my peers who were on set and I like how the results didn’t come out the way I expected. This is because it allows me to see new possibilities of how the scene could look like. Nonetheless, I would like to try filming at the set one day.
